The Expanse Season 5 Is So Boring I'm Beginning to think it was a mistake bringing it back

 As I sit typing I can see the Rocinante model on my shelf , the several books worth of source material are just next to it.I've had endless hours of discussions about the universe it portrays and how it all fits together.I've managed to convert everyone in my household(and there dependants) into superfans.

But.

The TV show is just so fucking boring.Since It was brought back on amazon we've had two mostly dull as ditch-water seasons.Season 4 was based on a book a lot of fans regard as not the most thrilling in the series.Did they really need to spend 10 goddam episodes on "Planet Canadian Quarry?"And Murtry, a villain so evil they pretty much let him do whatever he wants no matter how despicable until the end when the plot demands they suddenly grow a backbone and stop him.

Truly Amazon have taken "Netflix bloat" the the Nth degree.

The 5th season

Did we need three episodes build up before the rocks fell?Wasn't it set up in excruciating detail last season?Did we need what seemed like hours of Amos and Peaches endlessly trudging around the wilderness talking about how civilisation aint so civil any more?Did we need Naomi and her bad acting crying all over the place while marco talked in low whispers chewing the scenery?

I used to watch the show as soon as it appeared at midnight on amazon now I find it hard to work up enthusiasm for watching it at all.

Edit: Having now completed the season I'm still pissed off. 

The battle Amos had around the island mansion was badly done.We never goddam see anyone ,someone tell me where the fuck the bad guys actually were??Lots of scenes of people firing off into the distance and getting hit by random unseen gunmen began to annoy me.I used to see bad student films like this with no budget.

"Arrgh, the enemy is every where but you just can't see them because ..Reasons"

Holden sitting on the roci for one pointless scene per episode.Watching him very slowly figure out The ship that stole the proto molecule fired it off on a missile and was not destroyed.something anyone who watched the episode figure out immediately.

Naomi Still being boring as fuck crying on the derelict.(that's entertainment folks)

Alex and bobbie taking a leaf out of holden's book and mostly just fucking around aimlessly.And Alex's death was the most stupid fucking shit I've ever seen.They talk about high G maneuvers but we never really see it.Bobbi mentions stroking out but we don't see them gritting there teeth or any of the shit that the show usually shows us when they push the engines hard.It was just a random left field death.

The final battle was so confusing I had to watch a youtube video that paused and enhanced that section to explain what was happening.In the book it was Marco and two other ships v the roci .A fight made personal by there involvement with naomi.Holden has a more experienced crew and a rail-gun the other three Martian frigates dont .So the three free navy vessels limp off after taking a serious spanking.On the show its just drummer having a change of heart that saves the day?her motivations for leaving Tycho were weak her joining up with marco(a man she hates) were fucking weak and stupid.More than any other character drummer seems to just randomly do what ever the plot requires.

In fairness the last few episodes of season 5 were a hell of a lot better than the first 8 but they weren't good enough to make up for all the boredom.
