Creating Comics At Last

 Book Three is motoring toward completion so I thought it would the perfect time to begin the production of book 4 A Sci-fi Action adventure Graphic novel about an Ex weapons designer who becomes an armour clad vigilante to help take back the street from criminal scum with genetically enhanced abilities.

The end is in sight. My handful of loyal readers should be getting their book after the summer.  We've had the usual set backs and delays that happen but we're still progressing towards the inevitable conclusion. So now for something completely different  

  The thing that kept me alive during my seemingly endless years as a carer for my demented father was the hope that when it was finally over, and I had more than 5 consecutive minutes to myself, I would make comics. Four years after father died, I'm busy making my third book. I'm creatively fulfilled, immensely proud, and show off my books to anyone within my radius. Then there's a little fly in the ointment... My first book eventually hit it's funding goal my second did not despite quadrupling the amount of livestreams I went on.A momentary glitch perhaps?maybe I did something wrong? Next time I'd do better. Except the third book just finished it's crowd funder making even less than the second.I'd thought I was building a customer base and paying my dues, instead I appear to be circling the drain with no indication the next book will do any better than the last. Low selling ,no profile creators can't get on more prominent livestreams with more viewers ...

 It would seem that being able to read and write would be the most basic prerequisite for being a writer.So not noticing for 6 months that your goddam title banner on the front cover of your book is spelled wrong would not be a good thing. (first cover is technically correct but since the title is also a name I can take liberties with the spelling the new right spelling) I approved it, slapped it on everything, then had two separate versions of the book colourised. I once was blind but now I see new cover old cover

 Book two went out  Everyone opted for the Combined Complete Bastardry Version,with book one and two together.                   After a printing snafu that drove me to crazy town I corrected the mistake of pressing on the wrong button and vowed not to do it ever again ,so help me god. Now I focus on book three which is NOT a Kreekraw and Kris book But a fun little detective story about a Mystery solving prostitute called Fellatio Jones: Sex Detective. Now i find myself wracking my brains trying to remember all the TV cop shows my dad subjected me to, trying to remember how to structure a mystery and occasionally even having fond memories of my father.(see previous post for that story) After this book, I go back to what might be the last kreekraw and kris book and then dig into to my old pre-written files from years ago to see which ones need to see the light of day.  The combination of book one and two has arrived. Now to again begin the process of sending them out to the backers and again be shocked and appalled at how much postage has gone up in the intervening time.

  Well folks ,to say that I am some what fucked off would be a spectacular understatement. My weekend away has been cancelled. NOT by me but by bureaucratic arseholes. A week before I'm due to get on my coach They post a friendly reminder about making certain people all have proof of their covid vaccination  ready to go.This was somewhat disturbing on many levels, I was completely unaware this was a requirement I do not have any proof of a covid vaccination I do not have a covid vaccination So I hurriedly e-mailed the powers that be, politely asking WTF ? After three days of cordial exchanges I finally convinced the person in question that I don't have an issue proving my status, I am simply unvaccinated and would like to come along to the event anyway. This is where I get shut down with a no ,I ask about the appeals' procedure in the event of a such a disagreement and they inform me there isn't one????? Nobody has ever had a problem with this event before, apparently??...

 The inks on book two are complete . Now we continue to the finish line with colouring the rest of the pages . Inking begins on the bonus poster and the cover of book 3. Here's a sneak peak at the new one .

  The final two full pages are commissioned, and the comic shall soon be complete. This one feels like it has been a longer haul than the first book financial reversals lead to a longer production time and The crowdfunding campaign was less successful than the last, leaving me to self fund even more of the book than last time. So I am taking a break from Kreekraw and Kris With The Third Book And Instead opting for an extreme change of pace with a detective story . Wish me luck  my little chickens

  A freedom of information request about the NHS figures on how many people died OF COVID and not with covid revealed 17 thousand people.Not the 150,00 people the official figures said. Every study showed what most sensible people already knew, the mask do not and never did work at all in preventing the virus. Early in 2022 the figures were 84% of the infected were vaccinated .That figure has only risen since. The 5 million unvaccinated in the country turned out to be in excess of 20 million. If you don't believe any of these, just ask yourself one thing, How many more deadly and  infectious diseases are out there that we didn't shut down the world for?   Diseases that we can still get on planes with?                                                                             ...

 

 

 My friends from CGUK have sent forth a mighty gift for entering the CGUK Christmas comic competition. The Competition had to be Christmas themed and include one or more cguk member. Here is my entry  My first superhero comic ever I'm quite proud

  The campaign ended on the first of December 2021. And it failed. I had kind of hoped that my last book had opened a few doors,gotten some attention and might conceivably make the shilling easier .Since i was a known quantity with a successful campaign and a fulfilled book behind me. It did not. I didn't rely on that of course. I went on several streams,a hell of a lot more than last time. I shilled before the campaign even started for months to create some buzz and get an email list of people potentially interested.So I employed everything I learned from the last launch and applied it to this one. It's shame it somehow did worse. On the positive side the funds will pay for several more pages and take the book nearly to the finish line.Self funding is brutally expensive for a man of no financial means, and equally brutal sacrifices have to be made.This money will help not only the book but also allow me to live slightly above basic subsistence level.So while technically a fail...

   I went on a live stream with Pops. The Comic Madness Network work fella and shilled like the wind for my book.Pops is talkative ,friendly American fellow that looks like Walder Frey Became a Heavy Metal Roadie .After hearing others sell their books , Mike Baron popped up on the stream. He was serious ,focused and cut right to the chase about his book ,it's inspiration and his opinions on BLM. It was a true pleasure to meet someone who's written comics longer than I've been alive and we both shared our unhappiness with the postal service  problems of our respective nations.His wife poked her head into the stream to show us her painted seashell art ,describing it as a "We make Art Shit"  And then he was gone. I was tired and flustered but happy I'd given it yet another go at selling the book. Shame I got no new sales. Oh well back to the drawing Board

   I'll Be honest with you here the campaign seems to have stalled.  After a great big fat Start Of which I was very happy with We seem to be grinding to a non-negotiable halt.We are at The half way point.If it doesn't hit the minimum funding goal It doesn't go into in demand store at all Multiple live streams and endless tweeting/posting on social media doesn't seem to have made a dent in the amount of funding I require. I'm at a loss to explain the drop off to be honest .I know I'm utterly unsuited for the world of marketing either things or myself.My creativity really doesn't seem to extend to novel and intriguing ways to con people in to buying the book.Another live stream next week.And another chance to Sell the bastarding book and hopefully expanded my customer base,Lets us pray it is the case.

  The campaign has launched And we one fifth of the way to victory. This time I've been on live streams to promote the book,and hopefully boost sale,exposure etc .I'm usually terrified of things like that but I do them anyway.Because I love comics and love being a writer of comics even more.After they end I feel excited and exhausted and then go immediately to sleep. Tired but happy
